Stabbing Victim Found at Middle School Parking Lot

Officers found a 15-year-old stabbing victim in the parking lot of E. A. Hall Middle School Tuesday morning.

Police say that the teenage boy was stabbed twice in the upper torso. The victim told police that he was walking in an alley near the 600 block of Palm Street when he was approached by a Hispanic male in is 20's wearing a Raiders jacket.  According to the victim, the suspect stabbed him multiple times after he said that he had no gang affiliations.

Police say that the victim ran away and made it to the school parking lot and then he called the police.

The victim was taken to the hospital and his current condition in unknown.

Cabrillo Lanes in Watsonville will Close it's Doors August 31st

WATSONVILLE, Calif-

After 60 years of operation, one incident back in March changed everything for Cabrillo Lanes, now at the end of August they'll be closing their doors for the last time.

Owner and general manager Dana Lovell told Central Coast news that the bowling alley, "is very safe, even police believe it's safe it was just a freak ordeal."

WHO says swine flu pandemic is over

GENEVA (AP) - The World Health Organization declared the swine flu pandemic officially over Tuesday, months after many national authorities started canceling vaccine orders and shutting down telephone hot lines as the disease ebbed from the headlines.

WHO Director-General Margaret Chan said the organization's emergency committee of top flu experts advised her that the pandemic had "largely run its course" and the world is no longer in phase six - the highest influenza alert level.

"I fully agree with the committee's advice," Chan told reporters in a telephone briefing from her native Hong Kong.

The virus has now entered the "post-pandemic" phase, meaning disease activity around the world has returned to levels usually seen for seasonal influenza, she said.

3.9 Magnitude Quake Hits Near Watsonville

A 3.9 magnitude earthquake hit about 7 miles east of Watsonville Monday evening just before 6.

Several people called into Central Coast News saying they could feel the ground shake for about five seconds.

So far there are no reports of any damage or injuries. 

US Immigration Services in Watsonville for the first time

The U.S Citizenship and Immigration Services Office is in San Jose but Wednesday, they were in Watsonville making sure immigrants get the right information.

"We're here to answer questions and guide them on how to apply for services that our office offers," said Anita Erfan, Field Office Director.

She said a lot of the times immigrants are given wrong information making the process longer and more difficult.

"This gives us the opportunity to know what steps to take and know the opportunities we have to accomplish what we want," said Angelica Alvarez.

One on one sessions were available from 10am to 1pm at the Watsonville Public Library. Immigrants were able to ask specific questions about their case, ranging from getting citizenship to a green card.

Erfan said they travel to rural communities four times a year because a lot of people have told them they aren't able to make it to San Jose.

Immigration Services to Visit Watsonville

WATSONVILLE, Calif. - Officers from the San Jose office of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will visit the Watsonville Public Library on Wednesday, August 4, to provide informational outreach services. Interested immigrants will meet with USCIS officers who will help them understand such intricacies as how people immigrate, who's eligible to apply for citizenship, petitioning relatives to immigrate, and much more.


Forms will be provided along with instructions on how to print your own forms or file electronically. Information provided will be similar to that given during InfoPass appointments at the USCIS San Jose Field Office. Helping USCIS coordinate this event were the Watsonville Main Library and Catholic Charities, Diocese of Monterey.
