Controversy Over a Name Change

Controversy over a name change! Watsonville's mayor wants to re-name the main square in downtown to honor a civil rights leader. Mayor Luis Alejo is proposing to change the name of the City Plaza to Dolores Huerta the co-founder of the United Farm Workers Union.

But not everyone is on board with the idea. For more than a century the square in the middle of down town Watsonville has been known as City Plaza but plans for a name change are sparking a lot of controversy in this town."There's a few people who disagree and I think that's with any issue that the city council take on not everybody is going to be in agreement." said Alejo.
