Two Suspects Sought After Armed Robbery At Watsonville Restaurant

WATSONVILLE, Calif. - Watsonville Police are looking for two men wanted in connection with an armed robbery at Roger's Diner.

Police said two masked men entered the restaurant on Green Valley Road just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

According to police, one suspect was armed with what appeared to be a rifle or shotgun. The second suspect walked up to the cashier and demanded money. Police said that suspect then reached over the counter and grabbed the cash drawer that contained an undisclosed amount of money.

The two men ran out and apparently hopped into an older four-door silver sedan that was parked about a half block from the restaurant and drove away.

No one was hurt during the incident.

Police Activities League (PAL) completes its 6-week Fitness Program

The Watsonville Police Activities League (PAL) has partnered with Frontline Personal Training to provide Watsonville PAL youth ages 11-18 an opportunity to get fit. All instructors at Frontline Personal Training have volunteered their time to give back to the youth in the Watsonville PAL program. Watsonville PAL held a 6-week program that provided youth a structured training session which emphasized: health, fitness and an opportunity to build relationships with positive mentors.  The team of instructors provided a platform for youth to enjoy getting fit through this 6 week program. Over the course of the program Watsonville PAL served 28 youth. All the youth that participated were recognized at a closing ceremony on Thursday, March 14th.

Watsonville Police Officer "Instrumental" in Reuniting Boys with Mother

WATSONVILLE- Two boys were held captive in Mexico for 18 months.

Now, a local police officer is credited for helping ensure their safe return.

Watsonville Police Officer Elizabeth Sousa was working a normal patrol shift one day in November of last year.

Nothing out of the ordinary, until a woman called the police station. She pleaded for help. Her children were being held captive in Mexico.

The woman, who wants to remain anonymous, said her nine and eleven year old sons were born here in the US, but were staying with family in Mexico.

In 2011, the woman was living in Washington State. She was approached by a couple, Mexican nationals Jesus Salinas and Patricia Delatorre. They said they could go down to Mexico and bring her children back to the US.

WATSONVILLE, Calif. - The search is on for two suspects following an armed robbery at a bank in Watsonville.

It happened at the Comerica Bank in the 1900 block of Main Street shortly after 2:30 p.m. Monday.

According to Watsonville police, two masked men with guns entered the bank and demanded money. After getting an unknown amount of cash, the two hopped into a 2000 Cadillac Escalade and took off.

Police said they found the SUV in Watsonville, but the suspects are still on the run. They said the SUV was reported stolen out of Salinas Sunday night.

Police said there were six customers and 10 employees inside the bank at the time of the robbery. No one was hurt.

The first suspect is described as being 5'10 to 6'0" tall with a thin build. He was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and tan gloves.

Search and Rescue Crews Look For Missing 21 Year Old

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. - UPDATE (3:45 p.m.): Deputies, dog teams, and dozens of volunteers from San Mateo and Santa Clara have been searching for missing person Matthew Abraham for the past 36 hours.

Central Coast News has learned that hundreds of volunteers have been collecting water, food and other items for the searchers. The man who found Abraham when he suffered a head injury this past weekend at Henry Cowell State Park has also been helping in the search.

UPDATE:

12:30 p.m. Friday: Santa Cruz Sheriff's investigators are working on a tip that a man matching the description of Matthew Abraham may have been seen around 8:15 a.m. Thursday boarding a bus at 4th and King St. in San Francisco and heading toward Sparks, Nevada.

Suspect Arrested After Stabbing In Watsonville

WATSONVILLE, Calif. - A suspect has been arrested in connection with a stabbing in Watsonville that sent a man to a hospital.

Watsonville police say 23-year-old Nathan Navarro stabbed a 23-year-old man three times in a parking lot along the 1700 block of Freedom Boulevard Thursday afternoon.

The victim was admitted to Watsonville Community Hospital and later airlifted to a Bay Area trauma center with life-threatening injuries. As of Friday morning, the victim no longer had life-threatening injuries, police said.

Investigators believe the stabbing occurred after a fight between the two Watsonville men.
