Dumpster Fire At Watsonville Baskin-Robbins Put Out

WATSONVILLE, Calif. -- The Watsonville Fire Department put out a fire at Baskin-Robbins on Sunday night.

Fire crews said the dumpster fire was put out quickly.

Santa Cruz, Calif. - Michael J Paul, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Luis Obispo counties will retire on June 28, 2013. Paul has been with Goodwill for 35 years, 27 years as president.

Tom Moran, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Goodwill comments, "The board is unanimous in their appreciation of Michael's efforts for all he has done for Goodwill and the community. His contributions will be missed."

The board this week initiated a nationwide search for a new chief executive through Olive Grove Consulting.

A century ago, Dr. Edgar James Helms founded Goodwill as a method to help unemployed job seekers to find work to support their families in a time of national depression. He is famous for saying simply "Do Something!"

Paul has certainly lived up to that directive.

Man Arrested for Setting Old City Hall Building on Fire

WATSONVILLE, Calif.- The Watsonville Fire Department were called to a building fire Friday around 9:30 p.m. at the old City Hall building.

When the fire department arrived, they found Miguel Angel Aguilar Murillo standing in front of the fire. Firefighters then continued to try to contain the fire burning against the bulding, but when they approached Murillo he allegedly started to fight with them.

Police say they were called to the scene to deal with Murillo, but they say he put up a fight with them as well.  He was quickly subdued and firefighters were able to put out the fire. Although Firefighters were able to contain the fire, there was still some damage to the building.

Attempted Murder in Watsonville, Man Stabbed and Flown to Bay Area Hospital

WATSONVILLE, Calif. -- Police found a victim of several stab wounds along the 1000 of Freedom Boulevard.

Officers were told two men were seen running from the area heading north. Both suspects were described as wearing black and dark gray sweatshirts. The 30-year old victim was flown to a Bay Area hospital for his injuries.

Police are still trying to determine a motive for the stabbing. The victim is not cooperating with officers on the investigation, police said.

Three Teens Lead Officers in High Speed Chase in Watsonville

WATSONVILLE, Calif.-Three teens take off on a high-speed chase on Saturday that took officers all throughout the city of Watsonville.

A Santa Cruz Gang Task Unit, which consisted of a sheriff deputy and a police officer, were on a routine traffic stop when the three teens allegedly decided to take off.

Police also say they discovered during the pursuit that the car had been reported stolen to California Highway Patrol earlier that day by the "Casa De La Cultural Center."

The pursuit ended when the car crashed at the entrance of a mobile home park on Airport Blvd.  Police say the driver fled the vehicle, but the remaining two were arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, gang participation, resisting arrest and possession of an illegal knife.
