Right now the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is experiencing an overload of animals, so adoption fees are down in hopes to find many of these animals a home soon.
The reduced adoption fee is down to $50. Half of the money goes towards the adoption fee for the animal and the rest goes to a donation fund for the animals.
The donation funds are the Planned Pethhood Fund, which pays for spay and neuter surgeries, Extra Mile Fund, which rehabilitates animals beyond what the shelter is able to pay for and the General donation fund, which supports animal adoption, enrichment and public outreach for the shelter.
The more animals that are adopted out, the more space becomes available in the shelter for animals who need help.
The reduced adoption fee is available through September 2013.
