Watsonville Students Choose Off Campus Over Healthy Options

70% of students at Watsonville High School qualify for free or reduced lunches but two thirds of students still choose to spend their lunch money off campus.

For some students it's about getting school off their minds, others want variety, but most say you can get a burger and fries for $5 and it tastes better than the school's $3 options.

But the district says they moniter fat, sodium, and nutrional value in school lunches and off campus eateries tend to be fried and devoid of fruits and vegetables.

In case it appears, teen's taste buds always win.
